Chapel House

Chapel House reworks a historic mid to late 19th-century brick house, formerly the priest’s residence adjacent to the local chapel, into a cohesive contemporary family home. Over time, the property had been altered through a series of disconnected extensions; the design carefully reconciles these additions, unifying the house while respecting its original proportions, materials and heritage significance.

A new two-storey rear extension enlarges the principal bedroom suite, providing a more generous and functional private space while strengthening the relationship between the house and its garden setting. Internally, circulation is rationalised and supporting spaces, including a boot and utility area, are introduced to better serve modern family life. Improved daylight, clearer spatial hierarchy and carefully framed views across Alderley Edge contribute to a home that is both practical and rooted in its historic context.
